DeSoto County Museum

DeSoto county is one of the fastest growing regions in Mississippi. There are countless restaurants, businesses and entertainment venues for everyone. Hernando is the county seat and home not only to the court house, but a fabulous museum. It is packed full of history and amazing exhibits.

In 1984 DeSoto county citizens formed the Historic DeSoto Foundation to preserve history by recording the past, collecting artifacts and photographs along with hosting events. The museum opened to the public on March 1, 2005. There are exhibits covering famous residents to the civil war.

The Unknown Child Exhibit honors the memory of 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust.

Next door to the main building is the Crumpler-Ferguson Log Cabin.

I highly recommend taking a few hours and going by the DeSoto County Museum. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. Check out their website:
